Dr. Moraes earned a Bachelor of Arts in the Medical Sciences in 1988 and a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (equivalent to an American Medical Degree/MD) and a Bachelor of the Obstetric Art from Trinity College in Ireland in 1990. He completed an Internal Medicine internship and residency at St. James Hospital and Trinity College, before coming to the United States and obtaining a second Internal Medicine residency at the Boston University School of Medicine. Here, Dr. Moraes also completed fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.
While in Massachusetts, he served as an Attending Physician at the Winthrop Community Health Center and an Attending Cardiologist for North Suburban and Middlesex Cardiology Associates. He then served as an Attending Cardiologist at the Cossa Medical Group in Georgia. Dr. Moraes joined Louisiana Cardiology Associates in 2000. Since 2001, Dr. Moraes has held the positions of Assistant Medical Professor at Louisiana State University, Congestive Heart Failure Medical Director at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation of Louisiana and Co-Director of the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Moraes is a member of the American Heart Association, the Heart Failure Society of America, the Massachusetts Medical Society and the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. Dr. Moraes is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is also an Advanced Cardiac Life Support instructor.
